Going online

Recently I've been thinking about making a facebook page and calling it "DREAM Act Houston". I'm not sure if someone has already made a group similar to that, but I wouldn't mind collaborating with this person. I think it would probably be one of the fastest ways of getting my message out there since almost everyone uses Facebook today. I would probably be posting up links and any articles I found on the web. What I really look forward too is getting a certain meeting or event once I get a big enough group and do some rallying. Let me know what you all think.

    I think that is a great way of getting the word out. Facebook and other sites of the sort are the to go. I do think that there is a group (Dream Act Houston) for that but I also think that you could collaborate with college students. For example, Pedro seems to be very active in politics at UT. Don't you think that if you join any of the groups that are lobbying for this particular legislation you could cover more ground.
    One thing that I have to ask you: How could the Dream Act Legislation be modified in order for it to be passed? And, What were the reasons given not to pass it in December?

    Marcos I agree with you. I think it would be effective and help out a lot. You should message people all for who you think will join your group and actually help you with this project. Especially since Houston is big and has a huge immigrant population you may work something out.

    Marcos you have some very good ideas. Using Facebook would be a really good way to gain attention from many on your subject. Why stop at Houston? I understand you want to gather some people locally, but think a bit bigger. Why not make two facebook pages? Make one for everyone: people from all over. Then, make another local page and have that link on the other Facebook page to keep those from other parts of the country informed about what you are watching or doing here in Houston.

    P.S. I think it would be nice to see other titles for your blogs. It can help you catch someone's eye. Leave the simple titles for the tags.

    Have you thought about creating a companion Twitter account? Look for #DreamAct on Twitter?
